Computer Technology- an advantage or a curse.

We were discussing rather debating on the above subject a few days back among our friends and I thought to pen down my view on the same and hence this article.

As we are already in the new century after completing the previous century we never realized how much we have transformed our lives due to the advancement of technology and most important of them is IT. Yes computer Technology has touched our lives and of late the new trend of social networking sites has been of great help in bringing people together.

The social networking sites has reduced the distance between the peoples and it has helped to exchange views and information among masses with minimum efforts. It has also helped to make the big and huge globe where we are living into a small village where we are hardly away from each other, thanks to our computer technology.

When we talk about social networking sites we need to understand that there are lots of advantages and at the same time it has its own disadvantages too. The advantages are many like we can increase our social contacts, we can easily reach out to our distant relatives and friends and other near and dear, we can do business communication effortlessly even to the farthest corner of the globe in a split of seconds, we can easily share our information to multiple persons simultaneously, and we can get ourselves associated with the like minded peoples etc etc. Having said that I would like to mention that the Computer technology and social networking sites has its own drawbacks or disadvantages as well.

From the innumerous disadvantages a few among them are, The Computer technology has flooded with numerous countless indoor games which has reduced the physical activities for the children. The computer technology has improved to such an extent that now a days a normal human being hardly burn 1/10 of his her calories than what they use to burn a few years back during normal office hours due to the reason that all the work are being down in the system and they hardly move from their desk or chair frequently.

The efficiency of the brain to calculate or memorize  has faded to the bottom low due to the reason that now a days all the calculations are being done through Computers or related technology and the heavy dependency on the same has helped our brain to forget its real potential.

Similarly the draw backs on social networking sites are that without any doubt when we accept that it has lot of advantages, it has its own disadvantages too as the identity of the person with whom we are interacting are not always sure and the profile can be fake too, and one need to very carefully and examine the profile and investigate it in one’s own way to identify and recognize if the person on social networking site are genuine or not etc. Also of late it is noticed that a good number of people are found getting addicted to these Social networking sites and they end up spending a good time on internet chatting with people to whom they are intimate on line. This waste a lot of productive time of us especially of students in which a few of the case we have seen the concerned student slips in their grade in their studies.

In a nutshell whether we talk of computer technology or social networking site both has its own advantage and disadvantages. It is up to us how we manage it. It is like salt in food or sugar in our blood. Both is very much important ingredient for our body but if it increases or decreases the problem starts, like wise we should know how to utilize the Computer technology and social networking site to our advantage. We must be efficient enough to understand the need for ourselves our own priorities and know where to draw the line.
