8 militants killed in 10 days

Srinagar, Oct 10, KNT: Four militants were killed in two different gunfights in South Kashmir’s twin district of Kulgam and Pulwama on Saturday. With the killing of these four militants, the number of militants killed in first 10 days of current month has touched 8.
 
  On a specific input regarding presence of militants in Chinigam area of Kulgam, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 1RR and 18 Battalion CRPF in the said area on Saturday during wee hours.
   
Police told KNT that during the search operation, as the presence of militants got ascertained they were given opportunity to surrender, however instead they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.
  
In the ensuing encounter, 2 militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.  They were identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rahman Mir resident of Zangalpora Divsar Kulgam and a Pakistani national identified as Sameer Bhai alias Usman resident of Punjab Pakistan of militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhamamd.
  
As per the police records, both the killed militants were part of groups responsible for carrying out militant attacks. They were involved in  many militancy acts and the killing of one police personnel namely Khursid Ahmad at Furah Mirbazzar, attack on Sarpanch namely Aarif Ahmad at Akhran Mirbazzar in which he was critically injured.
  
 Police official said that IGP Kashmir appreciated the role of Joint forces for timely and safely evacuation of civilians during encounter and for maintaining strict restraint during search of two mosques inside cordon area. 
 
 Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation.
 
 “Keeping in view the prevailing pandemic due to Covid-19 and to ensure the safety of people from inherent risk of contracting the infection, the dead bodies of the killed militants were burries at Handwara,” police said.
 
 In another similar encounter, two unidentified militants were killed in Dadoora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday afternoon, police said.
  
 Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that “incriminating material”, arms and ammunition including 2 AK rifles had been recovered from the slain duo.

Confirming the identity police through its official twitter handle said that Zahid Nazir Bhat @ Zahid Tiger was among the slain in a brief shoot out in Pulwama and claimed it as a big success for government forces.(KNT)

Srinagar, October 03:(GNS) Security forces on Saturday found a suspicious object in Hanjivera area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

A senior Police officer told GNS that security forces found a suspicious object beneath a small bridge. 

Bomb disposal Squad has arrived to the spot to examine the object, the officer said. (GNS)

Srinagar, Oct 02:  Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Friday said that militancy related incidents have gone down in the Union Territory and the overall law and order has considerably improved compared to past few years.

“The improvement in situation is because of the fact that youth of Kashmir understood the futility of violence and violent actions. Today, our youth are shining in civil services at both UT and All India levels. Our youth are taking part in sports activities at J&K, national and international levels,” DGP told reporters, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), at Police Headquarters here. He spoke to the media men on the occasion of Gandhijayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, celebrated every year on October 2.

To a query about the use of artilleries on the LoC in Poonch and Kupwara, he said that “our neighbour is victim of violence itself but it still continues to promote violence.” “Unfortunately, we lost three soldiers yesterday in CFVs at Poonch and Jammu. Our forces are giving a befitting a reply.”

To a query, when would the bodies of slain trio from Rajouri be handed over to their families, the DGP Singh said that legal formalities are being followed and “very soon, bodies will be handed over to the family members. Legal formalities are being completed and once all formalities are done, bodies of slain will be handed over to their families.”—(KNO)

Srinagar Police arrested an imposter
Srinagar: 29th September 2020:
On 27/09/2020 Police Station Sherghari recieved a complaint from one Sohail Ahmed Pinchoo R/O Noorbagh Srinagar, to the effect that he is receiving threatening calls from one anonymous phone No. 9055786000. 

The caller is introducing himself as DYSP Cargo & is continuously harassing the complainant.

On receipt of this Complaint  FIR no 56/2020 U/S 419, 506 IPC was registered at PS Sherghari & Investigation taken up.

During investigation it came to fore that the that said phone no. belongs to one 
Nazir Ahmed Sheikh 
S/O Mohd Yousaf Sheikh 
R/O Botakadal Lal Bazar Srinagar. 

While searching his Phone No. on True caller App, his name is shown as DYSP CM Residence, which he has saved deliberately to cheat & threaten the public.

The above mentioned accused was immediately arrested & investigations started in the instant case.
