Statue of Unity. Being dedicated to the nation on 31st Oct 2018 which is also the birthdate of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also known as Ironman of independent India has played the most important role in the unification of India which was scattered among 540+ princely states within India.

He was the first deputy Prime Minister as well as first Home Minister of Independent India. Initially, when the decision of who to become the first PM of the country was going on, an internal election within the Congress party has voted clearly in favour of Shri Sardar Vallabhai Patel as the first Prime Minister of India but again, as usual, the twist came from Mahatma Gandhi requesting Sardar Patel Ji to step down for the sake of Our first PM Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru.

He started his life as an ordinary citizen bypassing his 10th standard at the age of 22 and later moving to England for higher studies and completing the course of 36 months in just 30 months and that too coming first among his classmates even without any proper college background. His public life started with a win in the Ahmedabad Municipality election where he managed to win the election with a mere one vote against his opponent.

He has taken initiative in establishing more laboratories in the country in order to facilitate checking diseases as well as to confirm drinking water quality as prior to that India had only 2 such laboratories one in Karachi and another in Pune. Amid he successfully proved his innocence against the corruption charges against him during his tenure in Municipality and of course Mr Jinnah had played an important role to help Sardar Patel to defend his case to prove his innocence by means of providing a bunch of best available lawyers to defend his case.

Sardar Patel had been instrumental in abolishing the sexual discrimination of women from contesting elections. He argued in favour of women and got to end the discrimination. He is well known for his strict stand against using his name by any of his near and dear for any kind of favour from the administration or from others in public life. He even asked his Son to stay away from Delhi in order to make sure that he doesn't involve in any kind of favouritism using his name. This goes a long way to show his sincerity and strength of his character on his principles in public life. 

Sardar Vallabhai Patel died at the age of 75.
