Menstruation Rituals and Scientific Reasons

During menstruation, cooking is prohibited in Hindus, it is only due to the reason that, during this period, female body undergo hormones changes which make them restless, irritative and extremely tired too.

In order to avoid cooking under stress, which if ignored will effect the the food prepared by them as we all know that food particles are poisoned through thought waves- vibrations emitted by the cook if they are under stress. Also providing rest to body makes the person more comfortable and at ease mentally and physically. 

Hence, since ancient times, our (Hindu) ancestors made it a rule to keep women or girls away from kitchen during menstruation period of every month with various Indirect excuses...  as rural population does not understand the scientific reasons, neither they could accept. 

Hence they were briefed with different silly reasons which could help to the implementation of the system of keeping women away from not only kitchen but other house hold works too during those days. 

So avoiding cooking during menstruation is good for the real reasons mentioned above....

Further, I would like to brief on "why menstruating women are prohibited in Sabarimala temple. What are the scientific reasons behind it...? 

 A scientific research reveals the following facts .

1. Teachers and students from Parashakti college ( tamilnadu) conducted an experiment and said" the lighting of camphor during deep aradhana displaces air which is charged with ions. These negative ions have the physiological function of fixing oxygen with haemoglobin in the blood. 

2. Temples have been found to be negative ion generaters. However menstruating women generate positive ions. Hence her exposure to high levels of negative ions in a temple environment interferes with her natural biological process of menstruation. They are therefore prohibited from entering Temples for their own good. 

3. Sabarimala temple is situated on a mountainous area where negative ions are as high as 10000 per cubic centimetres. Presence of high negative ions reduces male infertility but the same cannot be said for female fertility. It is on record ( based on research) , that female fertility on mountain region is less in comparison to plains.
