Election Results An analysis
Recent election results in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, and Uttarakhand are not just results but reflect the trend of the nation, the trend which is above politics, above caste, and religion. Since the last decade, Indian politics and voters are getting matured slowly but steadily.
- BJP has won lesser seats compared to 2017 performance but has increased its vote share.
- BJP vote share from 39.7% in 2017 increased to 41.6%.
- SP vote share that was 21.8% during 2017 has jumbed to 32% but still far behind.
- Congress has lost deposit in 97% of its constituency, though managed to win two.
- Congress vote share decreased from 6.3%in 2017 to 2.4% in 2022.
- Congress performed below RLD which managed 3% vote share in 2022.
- Owaisi lost deposits in every seat it contested as his expected votes from Muslims could not be diverted from flowing to SP. SP successfully lured the community and Muslim voters who didn't vote for BJP decided to vote for SP in order to not to waste their vote.
- UP is slowly rising above caste politics but not necessarily above Religion politics.
- Every Hindu vote that has gone to SP is proof of the same and every candidate the SP has fielded in their respective constituency also proves it is based on religion-motivated politics.
- The defection of Swami Prasad Mourya from BJP to SP has not appealed to his followers as keenly as it could have been otherwise. (Probably voters and even his followers from the OBC community realized that probably Swami Prasad Mourya has defected only under an assumption for a personal greener future as then he not only had mistaken first the opinion poll conducted by the media was swinging in favor of SP but also had reached a state of oblivion on his role in the OBC voters sentiments.
Voters loudly conveyed to Swami Prasad Mourya that ditching a party that had accommodated you, gave you respect,, provided a minister post, and above all when that has done one of the best governance ever the state has witnessed, will not be welcomed at all.
- Voters loudly conveyed to Navjot Singh Siddhu that they are no more jokers to dance to his tune as he has lost his own seat that too from Amritsar where Congress had managed to defeat one of the then strongest face of BJP Late Arun Jaitley.
This proves that he has lost the spark and glamour among the voters and this disastrous situation was dragged into by himself. His ditching congress whom he use to praise its top leaders like anything only to join BJP, then ditching BJP after praising its top leaders like anything only to ditch it again, then after a lot of speculation whether to join AAP or remain in congress his moves leading to destabilizing Congress in the region.
