Shyama Prasad Mookerjee First Nationalist of Independent India
Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, The first Indian politician who resigned from Congress cabinet for various reasons where he disagrees with Congress party and especially on few of its stand like, "Article 370" of Kashmir, India's demand for separate land to accommodate migrants from Bangladesh which Congress signed the treaty with Mr Liyaqt Ali of Pakistan (then, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan) without the clause of separate land for Bangladesh immigrants allowed then.
The resignation of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee can be considered as the first step of Nationalist leader who formed "Jan Sangh" which later turned to become today's BJP. It is a wonder how a party like Congress cannot entertain the demand of one of its senior-most cabinet ministers demand to negotiate with Pakistan to seek certain land too to accommodate the migrants from Pakistan to India which is today's Bangladesh.
The death of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in the custody of Jammu and Kashmir police is still a mystery unsolved. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee too has raised the issue of his death in the parliament and against is normal behaviour, he blamed Jawaharlal Nehru for the conspiracy in the murder of Shri Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
He should be remembered for not only as the first politician of Independent India who did not succumb to the desire of one's personal political career against country's issues and also for his sheer desire to raise his voice and stand against the issues which our country was facing. Yes, he will be remembered for the effortless sacrifice of his high profile ministerial position without any second thought for the cause of the nation and for his ideology.
To understand the same one should realize that nowadays hardly rather rarely any resignation of a minister takes place to safeguard the country's priorities and if at all it happens that takes place for personal ambition to occupy the political and ministerial chair. Before concluding would like to point out that, it is probably one of the first unsolved political murder mystery of independent India among the serial of such unsolved mysterious deaths like Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shri Sanjay Gandhi, Shri Rajeev Gandhi Shri Madhava Rao Scindia and Shri Rajesh Pilot to mention a few.
