Pratap Singh I, popularly known as Maharana Pratap, was a king of Mewar from the Sisodia dynasty. Pratap became a folk hero for his military resistance against the expansionism of the Mughal Empire under Akbar through guerrilla warfare which proved inspirational for later rebels against Mughals including Emperor Shivaji.
Maharana Pratap was born on 9 May 1540 at Kumbhalgarh Fort, Qila Kumbhalgarh. He was born to his parents Shri Udai Singh 2 and and Maharani Jaivanta Bai. Maharana Pratap passed away on 19 January 1597 at Chawand.
He was 2.26 meter tall. His full name was Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodiya and his wife's name was Maharani Ajbade Punwar (m. 1557–1597), Phool Bai Rathore (m. ?–1597).
The children are Amar Singh I, Kunwar Durjan Singh, Kunwar Maal Singh, Shekha Singh.
